Thanks to Our Partnership with Samsung, We Are Able To Provide
Community Members a Convenient & Free Electronic Recycling Solution

JANESVILLE, WI (MAY 23, 2022) –Universal Recycling Technologies (URT), an e-Stewards certified electronic and universal waste recycler, announced today that it has partnered with Samsung, an e-Stewards Enterprise and global leader in technology, to host a free of cost and convenient electronics recycling event for the residents of Madison and the surrounding communities.

In 2021, the DNR (Department of Natural Resources) conducted a statewide household survey and asked respondents “reasons they were unable to recycle electronics despite wanting to do so.” The survey found out that 38% did not know where/how, 20% found it too expensive, 18% said there were no convenient place, and 14% were concerned about data security.

“As a certified electronic recycler headquartered in Wisconsin, it is our responsibility to work towards creating a more favorable recycling environment for residents of the state of Wisconsin,” said Ray Zielke, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at URT. “That is why partnering with Samsung on this event for the community is so important. Together we’ve recognized the need and want to provide a solution to the issue.”

Samsung believes that everyday changes can make a meaningful impact on our environment. Samsung currently has annually collected and repurposed or recycled an average of 100M pounds of electronic waste (e-waste) in the U.S. and supports more than, 1700 drop-off locations and e-waste recycling events across the U.S. They are the winner of the 2021 U.S. EPA’s Sustainable Materials Management Electronics Challenge Gold Tier Award for its leadership in e-waste collection and recycling.

URT has recycled over one billion pounds of electronic and universal waste since opening its doors in 2003. The company’s team and processes have earned stamps of approval from certifying entities (e-stewards, NAID, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001). URT guarantees security, manages 100% of the process, and takes every step necessary to keep the customer’s data safe.

The electronics recycling collection event will take place Saturday, June 4 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Warner Park’s Parking Lot: 2930 N Sherman Ave, Madison, WI 53704. The cost of the event is free for the community of Madison and its surrounding neighbors (businesses excluded).

Items accepted free of cost: televisions, computers (desktop, laptop, netbook, & tablet computers), desktop printers (including those that scan, fax and/or copy, and 3-D printers), computer monitors, other computer accessories (including keyboards, mice, speakers, external hard drives, & flash drives), e-readers, DVD players, VCRs and other video players (i.e. DVRs), and fax machines.
