U.S. Exports to Asia Drop after Ban

posted by URT Marketing

With Thailand’s most recent restrictions on plastic, U.S. exports have dropped by 94 percent.  Statistics prove the significant drop from 2.1 million pounds in June to 1.5 million pounds in July.  Thailand announced the ban in response to the overwhelming amount of plastics being imported.  The government intends to make the ban a permanent solution to the rising volume of materials being stuck at ports.  Surrounding nations have been inclined to follow suit to reduce the high volume of plastics being imported. While Asian countries continue to develop responses, the real answer may be to develop more local and domestic solutions.
